Alta (Ford) Langworthy's Obituary
Alta Langworthy's obituary in the Clare Sentinel, published, 1938-12-16, online at Central Michigan University's site (see excerpt below):
Here's her obituary from the Isabella County Times, published December 15, 1938, page 15, column 3:
Funeral services for Mrs. Alta Langworthy, 68, were held at the Stinson funeral chapel Thursday afternoon, December 8, with Elder Schauf of the Cedar Lake Academy officiating. Mrs. Langworthy died Monday, December 5, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eva Dutcher, 635 Oak street. She had been in poor health for the past two years.
The deceased was born in Monroe county, Michigan, March 5, 1869, the daughter of Morris and Mercy Ford. She was united in marriage to Edwin J. Langworthy, of Clare county, October 9, 1887, and settled in Sheridan township where she made her home until 1919 when she moved to Mt. Pleasant where she resided with her daughter. Her husband died August 13, 1907.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Dutcher, Mrs. Audrey Guest, of Pontiac, and Mrs. Edith Parker, of Lake City, and two sons, Ralph and Lloyd, both of Mt. Pleasant. Two children preceded her in death, Edith [Etha], who died at the age of 20, and Carl, at the age of 31.
Burial was made in Cherry Grove cemetery in Clare.

Surviving are the widow; one daughter, Mrs. George Griffith, Grand Rapids; one brother, Frank Langworthy, Big Rapids, and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Witt Funeral Home, Muskegon. Interment in Lakeside cemetery.

Griffin and one son, Lyle Griffin, both of Grand Rapids, two grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren . Funeral services will be Saturday morning 10 o'clock at the Young Funeral Home, Muskegon , MI, where Mrs. Langworthy reposes. Interment Lakeside Cemetery.

Mrs. Frank Langworthy, 65, who moved to Big Rapids from Grand Rapids with her husband six years ago, is dead. She leaves the husband, a son, Bernard Erickson of Detroit; three grandchildren in Grand Rapids; a brother, Noble Frank of Pigeon, and a sister, Mrs. Mildred Fanning of East Orange, N. J.
Franklin Langworthy was Mary Frank's third husband; her first husband was Christian Erickson and husband #2 was Lyman Morrison. Mary, who was born in Canada about 1863 was the daughter of Christian & Fannie Frank.
Mary's sister, Mildred, married (2nd) John S. Fanning of California; her first husband was a Mr. Montgomery with whom she had a son, Norman Montgomery. John Fanning was a "commercial traveler" who sold gunpowder. He won shooting matches and a monetary prize and also held a shooting record according to the New York Times. John also may have sued the estate of a Titanic disaster victim.
Mary Frank was Frank Langworthy's 3rd wife; his first wife was Lucy Willets and his second was Martha Prevorce. Frank, who was born in 1866 in Lapeer County, Michigan, was the son of Thomas & Almina (Richmond) Langworthy.

Relatives of Mariah (Perkins) Burr Langworthy
Edward Langworthy, who married Mariah Perkins in Lapeer County, Michigan, was the brother of Thomas J. Langworthy. Thomas Langworthy married Almina Richmond, who was the sister of my great-great grandmother, Cynthia (Richmond) More. I found an account of Mariah Langworthy's death in the Flint Journal newspaper while researching at the Lapeer Historical & Genealogical Center.

Lapeer, Mich. March 9 - H. M. Perkins has returned from Big Rapids where he was called on account of the illness and death of his sister, Mrs. Mariah Langworthy. Mrs. Langworthy was 88 years of age and was a former resident of Attica.
Mariah, the daughter of Hiram & Dorcas (McClary) Perkins, was born in Canada on 31 January 1828.
She married 1st Horace Burr and had two children, Eleanor and Agnes. Horace Burr was born in Vermont in 1818 and died in Lapeer County, Michigan, May 1850.

In 1860 Edward & Mariah (Perkins) Langworthy family was living in Lapeer, Lapeer Co., Michigan, with Mariah's daughter Agnes (erroneously enumerated as "Langworthy," but was actually Agnes Burr), and Langworthy children Amanda, Willard, Albert and Harvey.
In 1870 Edward & Mariah (Perkins) Langworthy were living in Davison Township, Genesee Co., Michigan, with children Amanda, Willard, Albert, Harvey, Minerva, Susan and Ophelia, as well as 5 year old granddaughter, Belle Wilder.
Maria's daughter, Agnes (Burr) Wilder Granger Van Alstine, died 25 June 1892, in Mecosta County, Michigan. She married 1st, Henry Wilder; 2nd Horace Granger and 3rd George Wilson VanAlstine.
Maria's daughter, Eleanor (Burr) Van Alstine married Abraham Van Alstine.
Daughter Amanda, wife of Charles Gray, died in Lapeer in December 1877.
Daughter Ophelia, wife of Dennis Aldrich, died 25 July 1899 in Mecosta County, Michigan.
Daughter Minerva, wife of Stephen Showers, died 26 July 1914 in Cadillac, Wexford Co., MI.
Sister, Rosanna Topham,wife of William, died
Sister Lydia (Perkins) Mead died on 3 Sept 1899 in Lapeer County, Michigan, and is buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Lapeer. She was married to Augustine Mead.
