"His Brother Capt. McMillan resides in Glengary he was many years Captn in the Canadian Volunteers who were disbanded about the time I arrived here... .  He is not settled upon his lands & lately married a Daughter of Mr. McDonell of Greenfields who Emigrated to this Country along with himself."

The Lochaber Emigrants to Glengarry, By R.B. Fleming indicated that Lt.-Col. Alexander[3] Macmillan (Ewan2], John of Glenpean[1], born ca 1756 and died in 1823.  He married a. [Unknown]; b. Marcella MacDonell, dau. Lt.-Col. Alexander MacDonell (Greenfield) and Janet MacDonell (Aberchalder).  Born 3 February 1779.

The Death Of James Craig McFadyen

James McFadyen's death certificate arrived!.  He died of chronic myocarditis on March 16, 1931, in Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, at age 85 years, 1 month and 16 days (born January 28, 1846).  He was buried in Waterford, Ohio [where his wife, Eliza, was buried].  At the time of his death, James was living with his son, David, and daughter-in-law, Nellie, at 1416 Sloan Avenue in Wilkinsburg.  Nellie was the informant for the death record.

His parents' names were listed as Michael McFadyen and Catherine Craig.  There are at least three reasons that it is believed James' mother's name was Margaret, not Catherine.

Reason #1: Biography of James McFadyen's brother, John

John McFadyen is a scion of stanch Scottish stock in both paternal and maternal lines, and he himself a native of the land of hills and heather, as he was born in Kilburnie, Ayrshire, Scotland, on the 18th of October, 1849. He is the youngest child of Michael and Margaret (Craig) McFadyen and his father was a skilled and successful mining engineer. When John McFadyen was a lad of about seven years his widowed mother came with her five children to the United States, settling in the State of Maryland, where she remained until after the close of the Civil War. She then removed to Pennsylvania, where she passed the remainder of her life. She died at the age of sixty-five years and her memory is revered by her children, to whose welfare she was ever devoted. Of the five children two are now living.” [History of Greater Indianapolis].
