"...John Greer testified...his uncle John Taylor then Deputy Surveyor that the beginning tree of 'Heathcoat's Cottage'...above Nicholas Day's plantation near to an Indian Cabbin...".  Many years later, in 1769, Moses Greer testified...".

My Relatively Fiction blog post, Cousins Found In An Underground Railroad Story, related that William Y. Day lived at Taylor's Mount.

It was the phrase "son of William Y. Day, of Taylor's Mount, Maryland," that really got my attention.  In my early Maryland family tree, Arthur Taylor's grandson, John Greer, married Sarah Day, daughter of Nicholas and Sarah Day.  I'm related to William Y. Day and his slave offspring, John Wesley Gibson, through both the Taylor and Day lines.

Gunpowder Falls And Vicinity In Maryland

He [Heathcoat Peckett or Pickett] was born in 1706.  When an old man he was hanged during the Revolution at Joppa Gate, [1777] having been of Tory sentiments.  A piece of the tree from which he was hanged is still preserved by a family of the neighborhood.

Grandma Katie's Ancestors And DNA

Based upon DNA submitted by my brother at Family Tree DNA and a fortunate match with Grandma Katie's nephew's daughter (through Pearl Johnson, Grandma Katie's sister, and Robert Logan, Pearl's son), I was able to select persons who matched both my brother and Pearl's granddaughter, and make the assumption that those persons had a mutual ancestor(s) somewhere in Grandma Katie's family tree (as opposed to the Powers (paternal) tree or the Garrett (my maternal grandfather's) family tree).
