She Was Her Step-Granddaughter's Cousin

Source - Kezzie More

Kezzie More, daughter of John Frank and Marian (Gibson) More, was my 1st cousin 2x removed. In 1883, when Kezzie was about 5 years old, her mother died at home in Michigan.  Young Kezzie was raised by her step-mother, Eleanor Lorancy (Robbins) More.

The More family moved from Michigan and were living in Haralson County, Georgia, when the 1900 census was taken.  Kezzie probably met her future husband, Alonzo Oliff Turner, at that time.  Before she and Alonzo formed a lasting relationship, Kezzie moved across the state to Waycross, Georgia, with her parents.

Alonzo (A.O.), who married Mamie Adderhold in 1901, had a daughter, Clarice Turner, in 1902.  Mamie died in 1907.  Kezzie More and A.O. Turner were married about 1928 and moved to Birmingham, Alabama.

Kezzie died on February 27, 1933, in Mineral Wells, Palo Pinto, Texas.

The story does not end there.

Kezzie (More) Turner's step-daughter, Clarice, married Lewis Corbett, of Hillsdale, Michigan, Kezzie's former home state.  Lewis and Clarice had a daughter named Freda.

Lewis Corbett's grandmother was Josephine Cleveland*, a descendant of Moses Cleveland and Ann Winn.  Kezzie was also a descendant of Moses and Ann.  Not only was she Kezzie's step-granddaughter, Freda was also Kezzie's 8th cousin 1x removed thanks to their shared Cleveland ancestry.

*Josephine Cleveland was the daughter of Charles Burrell Cleveland; his brother, Joseph Jerome Cleveland, was featured in this blog post.
