After I had driven fourteen miles over the mountain trails, last summer, to a Virginia County seat, I met the white-haired county clerk. "Good Lord, man," he said, "I've been yere in this office forty-two years, and yer the second pursohn that's been yere in all that time to look at them records."

I was reminded of the time I went through probate files in Roscommon Co., Michigan, and was told I was the first person to use the records in 10 years! Cathy
