The Story Of Lt. Poole And His Button

A story of a button, lost and found, at the Chippewa Nature Center website:

"...an early account by trader, Benjamin O. Williams, that mentions a Lieutenant Poole surveying a road about five miles from the Ponton site [Michigan] in 1834. We now believe that this button once belonged to Lt. Poole!"

Lt. Poole was assigned to Fort Christmas in Florida; his button was left behind.
