Local Facts and Fancies.  DEATH OF A FORMER RESIDENT OF BURLINGTON COUNTY.

The following notice of the death of Hon. John M. Lamb, brother of Joseph L. Lamb, Esq., of Springfield, we copy from the Lapeer (Michigan) Clarion:

DEATH OF HON. J. M. LAMB.--Hon. John M. Lamb, a resident of Dryden, died at Lamont, Sanilac county, on the 2d instant (November, 1871), at the aged of 64 years. Mr. Lamb was born in New Jersey, and removed to this State in 1836, and in 1837 made his home at Dryden, where he has since resided. He successfully engaged in farming, lumbering, and mercantile pursuits, but retired from active business a few years since. As a politician, he was widely known through the county, as a man of much shrewdness and ability, and was twice a member of the lower branch of the Legislature, once a member of the State Senate, member of the Constitutional Convention, and in the early history of the county, held the office of County Commissioner, until that system was abolished. The immediate cause of Mr. Lamb's death was from inhaling heated air, while fighting fire on his land in Lamont. Three years ago, he received a severe sunstroke, and has been unable to bear heat ever since. He leaves a wife and nine children, all of whom are married, except the youngest, who is a young man of eighteen years of age. His estate is valued at about $100,000, and was disposed of to his family, by will.
