The Adlai E. Stevenson house in Metamora, Woodford County, Illinois:
Adlai Ewing Stevenson, born in 1835/6, was living in Christian Co., Kentucky, in 1850 where he was born, with his parents, John & Eliza Ann, both born in North Carolina. A comprehensive biography with emphasis on the political history of Vice-President Stevenson can be found here. He died in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, on 14 June 1914.
He married Letitia Green who was one of the founders of the DAR. The DAR published a lengthy biography of Mrs. Stevenson with some of her ancestors included. She died 26 December 1913; her obituary was in the New York Times.

Their grandson, Adlai E. Stevenson, was the Democratic Presidential candidate in 1952 and 1956 who lost both races to Dwight D. Eisenhower. He sought the nomination in 1960 but was defeated by John F. Kennedy, who appointed Stevenson as Ambassador to the United Nations. Stevenson died of a heart attack on 14 July 1965, in London, England.
