Mrs. Hage's Funeral Set

Funeral mass for Mrs. Thomas Hage, 63, pioneer Orlando resident who died Friday at a local hospital, will be held at 9 a.m., Monday at St. James Catholic Church with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. John Bishop officiating. A rosary service will be conducted at the residence, 425 Cherokee Dr., at 7:30 p.m., Sunday.

Although of Syrian descent, Mrs. Hage was born in Cairo, Egypt, and migrated to America where she and her husband, Thomas Hage, established a business in Jacksonville in 1909. From Jacksonville the Hages moved to Orlando where for a period of 40 years, Hage was one of Orlando's leading grocerymen.

As one of the first families of their nationality to establish residence and business in Orlando, Mr. and Mrs. Hage influenced others to come here by using their home as an open house on these occasions, resulting in a prosperous and progressive community of people of their nationality. They were among the founders of the Syrian-American Club here.

Besides her husband, she is survived by five sons, Allen, John, Mike Joseph and Fred, all of Orlando; two daughters, Mrs. George Fekany and Mrs. Abe Mahfood, both of Orlando; a brother, Farid Fekany of Cairo; a sister, Mrs. Mary Fekany, Orlando; and 17 grandchildren.

The Carey Hand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
