Until Samuel Praigg's obituary was found, I thought he died in Grand Rapids, at the Michigan Soldiers' Home, rather than Detroit at the home of his son-in-law. The location of his grave is as of yet unknown.

Samuel Praigg's 3rd wife, Rebecca (Perry) Farrar, was the mother of Rosaltha Farrar who married James Levi More (my great-grandmother's brother). Praigg's first wife was Ann Boden; his second wife was Louise Crain, his third wife was Rebecca; his fourth wife was Jeanette Campbell and his fifth wife was Mrs. Sally (Beech) Wood Allen.

Samuel Praigg (AKA Prague) was born in Pennsylvania and lived in the Michigan counties of Wayne, Genesee, and Kent; he married Rebecca (Perry) Farrar in Oakland County and married his 5th wife, Sally, in Lapeer County., Michigan.

Lauren,

For some reason Samuel Praigg's life just resonated with me, even though I'm not related to him. He fit in nicely with my Genesee, Lapeer & Oakland counties research.

Do you know where he was buried?

Cathy

My father was the late Nelson Samuel Praigg (1931-2001)--a direct descendant of Samuel Praigg. He remembered Samuel Praigg's son, Nelson Praigg

Hi Cathy... I have one more update on Samuel Praigg. Through the power of Google I found a photo of him that is in a collection at the Detroit Public Library. It was taken the year before he died. The boy in the photo is my grandmother's father. I was thrilled to finally see a photo of this man. Thought I'd share it with you.

Dear Lauren,

What a terrific find! Thank you so much for sharing that with me. I was wondering where the house was and the description of the photo included this: 'Handwritten on back: "On Farnsworth Ave., N.E. corner of John R, 65 Farnsworth... ."'

I live in Samuel Praigg's house in Fenton, Michigan. We found his name on a map from 1873. The current address of the house is 401 E. South Holly. Anyone know any more info on the house?

Joe Haynes, What an interesting connection! I do not have any additional information, though.
