An Inheritance From England In Almont, Lapeer Co., MI

From the Brooklyn Eagle
Wednesday, August 18, 1847
:

"...The other is a case of a Captain Lamphere, who died lately in England leaving a large property and some $100,000 in cash to five persons in Lapeer co., Michigan.--The immediate heir in this country was Mrs. Hubbard, of Windsor, VT., formerly a Lamphere. She died some two years since, leaving four sons by the name of Hubbard, and a daughter, who resides near Lapeer county seat. The daughter was the wife of a Dr. Carpenter, of Almont, who will soon visit London on the business."

The best clue was "the wife of a Dr. Carpenter, of Almont...". Dr. Carpenter was Caleb Carpenter (1795 - 1873) and was confirmed by marriage records online:

From "Lapeer Marriages, The Dibean Collection":
CALEB CARPENTER LAURA HUBBARD LAPEER 30 OCT 1836

The Caleb Carpenter family was found here in the 1850 Census taken in Lapeer Co., MI.

A further search for Laura (Hubbard) Carpenter found that she was the daughter of Luther & Polly (Lanphear) Hubbard and was born May 28, 1806, in Windsor, Vermont.
Individual Record FamilySearch™ Ancestral File v4.19
Laura HUBBARD
Event(s) Birth: 28 May 1806
Windsor, Windsor, Vermont
Parents Father: Luther HUBBARD

This site found the following on the Lanphear / Hubbard family tree:

4. Polly Lanphear (Abijah ) was born in Apr 1772 in of Woodstock, Windsor, Vermont. She died on 29 Nov 1857 in Rochester, Windsor, Vermont.

Polly married Luther Hubbard son of Elnathan Hubbard and Sybil Hubbard on 1 Aug 1797 in Reading, Windsor, Vermont. Luther was born on 20 Jan 1768 in Farmington, Connecticut.

They had the following children:

+ 23 M i Enos Hubbard
24 M ii Asahel Hubbard was born on 25 Nov 1802 in Windsor, Windsor, Vermont.
25 F iii Laura Hubbard was born on 28 May 1806 in Windsor, Windsor, Vermont.
26 M iv Charles Hubbard was born on 27 Jan 1810 in Windsor, Windsor, Vermont.
27 M v Abel Hubbard was born on 18 Sep 1815 in Windsor, Windsor, Vermont.

This is still incomplete because I have yet to identify "Captain Lamphere" whose estate was bestowed to the Hubbards.
