Ancestry.com's (Temporarily) Free St. Croix African Roots Project

My brother-in-law sent me the following message:

Our local online newspaper had the following article you may find interesting. It has to do with our local archive of slave records that is slowly becoming a source for a type of tourism as Danes show up on island to peruse their ancestry. Of course putting these records online may make their trip unnecessary, but on the other hand it could increase interest in such a project.

One woman mentioned in the article, Mary Roebuck, is a neighbor ( most of my neighbors are Roebucks and we inhabit "Roebuckville" which is several hundred acres of the old Estate Solitude plantation that was reserved for family when a Roebuck bought the estate from the government in the 40s and subdivided it in the 60s.)
