"The curious visitor to Nuremberg will find the house in which Palm lived in the Wincklerstrasse near the imposing Sebalduskirche marked with a tablet inscribed as follows: 'Hier wohnte Johann Palm, welcher fiel ein Opfer Napoleonischer Tyrannei im Jahre 1806.' The tablet was affixed in 1842 by order of King Ludwig I of Bavaria. It was Palm whom Byron had in mind when one evening in a gay company, he delivered himself of the toast: 'Here's to Napoleon he shot a bookseller.'"
