William Acklin was the son of Samuel B. & Elizabeth (Hunt) Acklin, and the grandson of John Hunt, for whom Huntsville, Alabama was named. William was the brother of Joseph A.S. Acklin, husband of the famous Adelicia, and also Kit Acklin, of Texas Ranger fame.
