Captain Jonathan Walker was a Massachusetts boy who went to sea. He was incarcerated in Pensacola, Florida, at which time he was branded with the letters "S.S." [slave stealer]. Captain Walker settled in Muskegon, Michigan, and that is where he died.

Others listed in Walker's narrative concerning his incarceration and trial in Florida included Francis Torward [Francisco Touart], Robert C. Caldwell, Walker Anderson, and Ebenezer Dorr.
In 1873 there was a second marriage in Milford, Massachusetts. His parents were named as Seth Walker and Mercy Bassett.
