...District of Greenville...said Joshua Thompson...the deponent enlisted and entered the service of the United States under Capt. John Clendenan in Orange County in the State of North Carolina...
...they were in a Battle at Cane Creek in Orange County under Captain Clendennen, Col. Mebane's regiment [and General Butler]...the said Buckner Smith did his duty faithfully and was discharged at the Haw field near Hillsboro, N.C.
