Mr. Langridge's Pardon

J. C. Higgins was a character reference forWilliam [Henry] Langridge.  They both served in Co. A, 23 Illinois Infantry. Langridge was enumerated at Jackson Prison in 1890; his Civil War service was noted.

William Henry Langridge was sentenced 26 November 1878 for 2nd Degree murder in the death of his mother, Mrs. Martha Farrell. He was pardoned on 28 December 1900:

Her was living in the Old Soldier's Home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1920. He died 23 March 1921.

Henry W. Langridge may have been born at Mackinac Island, Michigan.  He may have married Julia McDonald, originally of London, Ontario, Canada. [Death record of Alfred Langridge; Henry W. Langridge had a son named Alfred, who spoke on his father's behalf at a pardon hearing]
