Respectfully returned to the President, Tennessee Board of Pension Examiners, Nashville.

The records show that Wm. N. Hinds, third corporal, and junior second lieutenant, Company E, 2d Missouri Cavalry, Confederate States Army, enlisted February 11, 1862.  On the roll for March and April, 1864, last on file, he was reported present.  No later record of him has been found.

Affidavit from Ernest Meysenburg, of Jersey Co., Illinois [Excerpts]

Q:  When and where did William Hinds enlist in the war between the States, and in what Company and Regiment did he enlist, and how do you know this?
A:  We served together in the Missouri service in the 1st Cav under Gen. Jeff Thompson, and the 1st day of Jany 1862 we enlisted in the Confederate service in the 2nd Missouri Cavalry.
Q:  Were you a member of the same Company and Regiment at the close of the war?
A:  Yes, we were together constantly from Jany 1st 62 to Apr. 13 65 serving under Genls Price, Vandorn & Forrest.
Q: Where did he reside at his death, and how long had he been a resident of Tennessee at his death?
A:  In Memphis, when I visited him at his home during the reunion of Forrests Corps, I believe in 1909.
