"The efforts made by that noble and patriotic Canadian, that grand descendant of the U.E. Loyalists--I refer to the late Rev. Dr. Ryerson--to place before the world a more accurate estimate of the Loyalists...".  

Note: Wouldn't it be nice if there was a word or two about the Loyalist status, or the lack thereof, of Rev. Dr. Ryerson's assistant, Rev. I. B. Howard?!  This is why I would really, really, really, like to know:  *I. B. (Isaac Brock) Howard was the son of William and Mary Howard and the brother of my ancestress, Ann (Howard) Kennedy.
