Born In Michigan, Moved To NY

The following entry, 17 year old Helen Johnson, born in Michigan, who was living in Livingston County, New York, caught my eye. She was the grandchild of Richard Osborn.  Upon further research it was found that Helen was living with her grandparents, Richard and Ester (or Hester) Osborn when she was just 6 years old, still in Livingston County.  That led me to believe that her mother may have died between 1849 and 1855.  Here's what I found:

Helen may have been the daughter of Fordyce Johnson.  From the History of St. Joseph County, Michigan:

"...Fordyce Johnson, the latter locating on section thirty-five in 1834. Samuel E. Johnson and his family of six boys, of whom Sherlock and Fordyce are now residents of Mendon, came from Livingston county, New York, to Nottawa prairie...".
