Abraham Howard Of The 64th Regiment

From the Medical Register For The Year 1783:

Regimental Surgeons, with the dates of their Warrants

64th Regiment    Mr. Abraham Howard,  12 Feb. 1780

From an updated source:

Roll of commissioned officers in the Medical service of the British army who served on full pay within the period between the accession of George II and the formation of the Royal army medical corps, 20 June 1727 to 23 June 1898...

"....[completion of truncated sentence above] were often apprentices of the Surgeons.  Surgeons were usually promoted from the ranks of  the Surgeons' Mates."

Some background about my search for Abraham Howard(s).
