Arabella

Arabella's maiden name is unknown.  She married Mr. Anderson; Arabella and Mr. Anderson were the parents of Alice (or Alsey) Anderson, who was my ancestor.

A message at GenForum included the following information:

Arabella ANDERSON, a widow received 200 acres [link added] grant in Jefferson Co, KY from the Gov of VA. I find her in Nelson Co., KY.  I don't know her ANDERSON husband's name, nor what her maiden name was. I have been told it may have been BURTON, but I haven't been able to prove that. She had Sarah ANDERSON married Thomas COMBS, Alsey (Alice) ANDERSON married David EVANS, and Patience ANDERSON married Matthew WARD, all in Nelson Co. I also believe she had a son John, from indications given with court actions reference Sarah. I also believe that all three of these daughters and mates moved to Muhlenberg Co., to include the son John ANDERSON

The presumably widowed (before 15 July 1797 per deeds below) Arabella Anderson married John Ash.  According to this site, they had a daughter, Elizabeth.  Did the Ash family have Butler County, Pennsylvania, roots?  The Ash Family history site stated that "at a County Court held for Nelson County on May 13, 1800 the will was proved and recorded. So John Ash died between October 1799 and May 1800."

This source from a researcher included the following deed abstracts:

Book 7, page 212 - 15 Jul 1797 - John ASH & wife Arabella to Isaac CLARK of Hardin Co., 97 acres on south fork of Nolin Creek and being part of 200 acres granted to Arabella ANDERSON now ASH by patent, adj. Joseph NOURSE and Aquilla MARTIN - (Arabella ANDERSON, a widow, was granted 200 acres in Jefferson, now Hardin Co., KY by VA Gov. Patrick Henry, in 1783 - her maiden name is unknown and her ANDERSON husband is unknown)

Page 213 - 15 Jul 1797 - John ASH & wife Arabella to Aquilla MARTIN 103acres in Hardin Co on south fork of Nolin Creek and being part of same patent mentioned above

Arabella was the step-mother of George Ash (more here).

John Sturgeon and Arabella were married 22 November 1804.  Their marriage document below (bond of Nathaniel Brown and John Sturgeon dated 19 November 1804) specified that Arabella was the widow of John Ash.
