Convicted In Arkansas, Jailed In Detroit

Wiley Sukey, Town King of Coweta, who was convicted in the Western District of Arkansas, served his time in Detroit, Michigan.  It was not uncommon for prisoners convicted in the West to be incarcerated in Detroit.  Detroit is sited in an article about the Territorial Prison in Wyoming.  Belle Starr was held in Detroit.

From United States Supreme Court Records and Briefs:

Wiley Sukey was found in an affidavit in 1905 for Josephine Posey Boston's Applications for Enrollment in the Five Civilized Tribes (Creek Dawes packets) taken at Muskogee, Indian Territory.  He was no longer in Detroit! [Source]
