22 Oct 1865 - John P. Ward died

The estate of Mabel's father was in the hands of her grandfather who was one of the celebrated business men of the country it does not appear that most of her was invested at all and he died without rendering an account of nearly nine years administration. [Per Northwestern Reporter]

20 Sept 1869 - Mrs. Adelia E. (English) Ward married Dr. Hamilton E. Smith; J. M. Stanley & William Green, witnesses

2 Jan 1875 - Eber B. Ward died

1876 - Hamilton E. Smith appointed guardian of Mabel Ward, age ca 10 years old, daughter of Mr. Smith's wife, Adelia E. Smith, by a former husband, John P. Ward

1877 - Death of Adelia E. Smith

1886 - Hamilton E. Smith resigned as guardian which was assumed by Charles E. Warner

10 August 1886 - Account presented and $31,167.13 balance struck against Mr. Hamilton Smith by the Wayne County Probate Court; appealed to Wayne Co. Circuit Court and amount was raised to $40,281.64; then appealed to MI Supreme Court

24 March 1888 - Mabelle Ward married Charles H. Seitz (son of John H. & Mary (Chope) Seitz), an iceman; Alice Stanley and Charles Warner, witnesses.
