Eli Smead, who was born in Redford, died at his home in Lakeview at the age of 83. He moved to Lakeview in 1883(?) and for many years engaged in general blacksmithing. He later moved to Bellevue, returning to Lakeview only three years ago. He is survived by one son, Milton, at home. Funeral Saturday afternoon at the M. E. church with burial in Lakeview cemetery.

Darius Smead, Eli's father, died in Redford Twp, on 9 Nov 1881, and was the son of Darius [see the grave of this Revolutionary War veteran here] & Sarah Smead. Dorcas Smead, his wife, died on 21 Nov 1881.
