Lapeer Co., MI, References In NY Newspapers

There are 40 Northern New York Historical Newspapers online, including the Adirondack Daily Enterprise. Was it a surprise that there were Lapeer County, Michigan, references in the NY newspapers? Perhaps a litte. I usually use "Lapeer" as a search term in various databases since it is somewhat unique and I'm interested in references to Lapeer.

The article mentions that Mrs. Minnie Elwell, of Dryden, Michigan, Mrs. Minnie Cowan of Lake Orion, MI, Miss Mary CLARK, of Oxford, and Belle Blow of Lapeer, MI, were visiting with their sister, Mrs. E. Torrence of Church Street in Saranac Lake, NY. A check for CLARK in the Dibean Marriage database for Michigan revealed nothing. No Clark/Elwell, Clark/Cowan or Clark/Blow information was found. However, a search of FindAGrave found a Jennie Cowan, nee CLACK, buried in Oxford Cemetery, in Oakland Co., MI. Searching for the surname Clack, rather than Clark, found an obituary for Mary Ellen Clack (1875-1965), who was also buried in the Oxford Cemetery. Mary Clack's obituary included the following:

Miss Clack is survived by two brothers, George and Lee of Oxford, and four sisters, Mrs. Jennie Cowan, and Mrs. Belle Blow of Oxford, Mrs. Minnie Elwell of Dryden, and Mrs. Emma Torrance of St. Petersburg, Florida.
