Pioneer Niagara Families

The Annals of Niagara's article about Pioneer Niagara Families was of interest to me because of my ancestors (including William Howard) who lived in the Niagara area from about 1816 onward.

"During the seven years of war no settlement was made on the western side of the Niagara river."

A plat map described as a Loyalist Settlement Map.  Described as "rare and unique," it was made at the time of their settlement.

Here's a map of the Niagara frontier circa 1818.

A blog post about land petitions for Niagara pioneers can be found here.
