Mrs. Parley Gibson's Obituary



The remains of Mrs. Parley Gibson*, formerly of Metamora were brought to Oakwood for burial on Monday.  Deceased was born in Attica, N.Y., July 7, 1812, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. V. Aldrich of Elkhart, Ind., with whom she had lived for the past year, July 9, 1898, at the age of 86 years and 2 days.  She was married in 1827 to Parley Gibson.  They came to Mich.  In 1855, her husband dying in 1857.

Mrs. Gibson was the mother of eight children, six girls and two boys, four of whom are now living; Mrs. Chas. Thorne of Thornville, Mrs. J. W. Vanvalpenburg of Mansfield, Ohio, Mrs. M. V. Aldrich of Elkhart, Ind., and Greene Gibson of Ontario.  Her last moments were very peaceful and death came as quiet sleep.  The services at the grave were conducted by Rev. Turner of Metamora and Undertaker Brown of Lapeer, and were attended by many former neighbors, near friends and relatives.
