A visit to the Decatur, IL, Genealogical Society library really paid off! I found the above article and PICTURE in the book cited above.

[Note: The curator at the Macon Co., IL, Historical Museum, told us that the library had the best collection this side of Fort Wayne -- it was definitely worth a visit, and the $2.00 donation, since I was already in the area.]

Eva (Rice) Swinney was my great-grandmother's (Katie Rice Johnson's) sister, both daughters of James A. & Nancy (Patillo) Rice.
